Hospital Bag Essentials For The New Mom

Hospital Bag Essentials For The New Mom

The Baby Is Almost Here!

You're nearing the end of your pregnancy, you feel your water break, and your contractions begin. It's happening! Get your bags ready, and it's time to head to the hospital to welcome your precious one(s) into the world.

Or you would've already packed your bags a while ago, that's okay too! You've probably read countless articles from writers of all over the world of what to bring to the hospital with you (so did we!).

To save you the hassle, we've summed up the extremely long list with our Top 5 essentials.

1. Nipple cream, and other hydrating creams.

The air in hospitals can be very dry. Like Sahara Desert dry—minus the heat.

Lotions, creams, balms, you name it. You're gonna need all of it! To kill 2 birds with 1 stone, you could get some natural, multi-purpose balms that can double as a nipple balm and lip balm, so you'll only have to bring one with you!

If you're planning on breastfeeding after delivery, do remember to chuck in a balm into your bag! New momma you will thank the past you. 😌

2. Comfy clothes

Yes, you'll be given a hospital gown, but just because you're giving birth, that doesn't mean you can't be fashionable doing so! Bring your favourite COMFORTABLE (emphasis on COMFY) clothes with you to the hospital that's easy to get in & out of. This is especially important for fellow c-section mommas, or mommas who needed surgical intervention during natural birth. You don't want your healing wounds to be irritated by uncomfortable clothing!

Another comfy addition to your collection should also be a good all-round bra, like our very own Real-Support Bra!

Our Real-Support Bra is a wireless bra perfect for nursing, pumping and if you just need some support to take the weight off your chest—literally! Even if you're not planning on breastfeeding or breastpumping after delivery, it'll be a comfy bra that will grow with you as your breasts change during your postpartum journey.

3. Extra blankets & pillows

You can never have too many pillows! Sure, the hospital or clinic that you're in may provide you with extra blankets & pillows if you request for them, but there's something soothing about having your own comfort belongings with you—specially during an exhilarating and possibly terrifying moment in your life!

If you're planning on breastfeeding, you could also bring a nursing pillow to nurse your baby in comfort as you're recovering from birth, especially if you've had a c-section. Remember mommas, you need to prioritise your comfort!

4. Extra bags

Based on personal experiences from family & friends, we know that some hospitals give new mothers some freebies to bring home, like formula samples or diapers for both mom and baby. If you know that the hospital you plan on being admitted to does this, bring some extra bags with you to take home all the free samples!

Even if you don't get free samples, it's good to have extra bags with you. You never know what you might need them for!

5. Toiletries

Now's the time to dust off all the toiletries you needed for being on-the-go! Bring along your favourite dry shampoo, facial cleansing wipes and travel-sized versions of your preferred skincare items. Chances are that you'll be exhausted after giving birth, and the last thing you'd want to do is a 10-step skincare routine (If you can still do that after giving birth, we truly commend you Mamas!)

We have the perfect companion to put all your toiletries in with you into the bathroom! Introducing these beautifully-designed, nylon waterproof wristlet pouches from Gin & Jacqie.

It comes with 3-zippered spacious compartments with 1001 uses and more! Along with your toiletries, you can store your precious items like your IDs, cards and other important belongings.

Did you know that it can also fit up to 2 Real-Support Bras? That's spacious alright! Get it for absolutely FREE when you make a purchase on our website ♥
